Former Gap exec to head David’s Bridal
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Former Gap executive Pamela B. Wallack has been named CEO of David’s Bridal, a U.S.-based specialty retailer of bridal gown and wedding-related apparel and accessories.
The specialty retailer is looking to leverage Wallack’s abilities to grow and improve well-known consumer brands to help drive the strategic initiatives underway at the company, including expanding the store base, bolstering the e-sommerce platform, enhancing customer experience and adding to the portfolio of high-fashion brands.
“David’s Bridal is at an important inflection point,” said Paul S. Pressler, chairman of David’s Bridal and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice Partner. “As the largest player in the bridal gown market and the only national footprint in the industry, we have a strong foundation from which we can continue to provide customers with the wedding dresses and related bridal party apparel and accessories that they most value.”
“Pam, whom I know from my days at the Gap and before that at Disney, brings extraordinary strategic, branding and merchandizing capabilities that will complement our talented leadership team as we work to increase our sophistication and effectiveness in serving our customers at a critical juncture in their lives. We are very excited to welcome Pam to David’s Bridal,” added Pressler.
Wallack held senior positions at the Gap since 2005. In 2011, she was tapped to establish and lead the Gap Global Creative Center, responsible for global design, marketing and production and accountable for $6 billion in annual sales. Additionally, Wallack was the president of Gap Adult, Body and Accessories from 2010 to 2011 and the president of Gap Kids and Baby from 2005 to 2010.
“David’s Bridal is a dynamic company with impressive accomplishments and attractive long-term potential,” said Wallack. “I am drawn to both the historic strength and legacy of the brand combined with its unique position within specialty retail for innovation and growth.”
Prior to Gap, Wallack spent seven years at Toys“R”Us, where she was responsible for product development, production and merchandising for the Babies“R”Us/ Toys“R”Us juvenile and apparel line. She has also spent time at other retail brands including Coach, the Disney Store and Laura Ashley. Wallack received her BS in education from the University of Vermont.
David’s Bridal operates more than 300 stores located across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
