This initiative coincides with the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign in October, and gives customers an opportunity to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

The 134-store arts and crafts chain A.C. Moore said Tuesday it has agreed to be acquired by an affiliate of arts and crafts distributor Sbar’s Inc. for about $40.8 million.

BERLIN, N.J. — The 134-store arts and crafts chain A.C. Moore said Tuesday it has agreed to be acquired by an affiliate of arts and crafts distributor Sbar’s Inc. for about $40.8 million.

Last January, the company said it had formed a committee to review strategic alternatives, including a potential sale.

A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts saw sales for its second quarter decrease 0.8% to $99 million from $99.9 million last year.

BERLIN, N.J. — A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts saw sales for its second quarter decrease 0.8% to $99 million from $99.9 million last year. According to the company, the decrease was primarily due to a decrease in comparable-store sales of 0.7%. Net loss for the quarter was $7.9 million, or 32 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $9.7 million, or 40 cents per share in the second quarter of last year.

All A.C. Moore stores (www.acmoore.com) will offer the free activities, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., each Wednesday, through the end of the summer.

A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts reported that sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 were $143.2 million, a decrease of 4.4% compared with sales of $149.7 million during the fourth quarter of last year.

Moore Arts & Crafts reported that sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 were $143.2 million, a decrease of 4.4% compared with sales of $149.7 million during the fourth quarter of last year. This decline was primarily attributable to a decrease in comparable-store sales of 4.3% during the quarter. Net loss was $4.8 million, or 20 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $0.5 million, or 2 cents per share, in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009.
