American Eagle Outfitters has agreed to a mutual termination of its license agreement in China, Hong Kong and surrounding markets with Dickson Concepts (International) Limited.

PITTSBURGH — American Eagle Outfitters has agreed to a mutual termination of its license agreement in China, Hong Kong and surrounding markets with Dickson Concepts (International) Limited. Consistent with its long-term global expansion strategy and the importance of this market, the company took the opportunity to exit its agreement and will assume operation of six existing stores in China and Hong Kong.

Net income for the second quarter, which includes a loss from discontinued operations, was 9 cents per diluted share, compared with 10 cents per diluted share last year.

PITTSBURGH — American Eagle Outfitters is raising its EPS outlook, thanks to stronger than expected sales for the second quarter.

The company's new second quarter outlook calls for earnings per share of 19 cents to 21 cents. Previous guidance called for EPS between 13 cents and 15 cents.

Net sales for the second quarter increased 11% to $740 million compared with $669 million last year. Comparable-store sales increased 9%, including sales from AEO direct.

American Eagle Outfitters Inc. reported that its third-quarter net income increased 59%, helped by a year-ago charge.

PITTSBURGH — American Eagle Outfitters Inc. reported that its third-quarter net income increased 59%, helped by a year-ago charge. The chain posted fourth-quarter guidance that was above Wall Street expectations.

For the August-October quarter, the company said net income was $52.4 million, compared with $33 million in the same period last year. Analysts expected 26 cents per share.

Revenue rose 11% to $831.8 million, from $751.5 million last year. Analysts expected $820.3 million. Same-store sales rose 5%, as did online revenue.
