The Children's Place Retail Stores said Tuesday that its customer email address database, which is stored at an external email service provider, was accessed by an unauthorized third party.

Secaucus, N.J. -- The Children's Place Retail Stores said Tuesday that its customer email address database, which is stored at an external email service provider, was accessed by an unauthorized third party.

According to the provider, email addresses were accessed and no other personal information was obtained.

The Children's Place said it is notifying its customers and has launched an investigation.

Rumors that Target would open in San Francisco’s Metreon center have now been confirmed: Terranomics announced it has brokered a signed lease for Target to open in the Wesfield-owned center.

Rumors that Target would open in San Francisco’s Metreon center have now been confirmed: Terranomics announced it has brokered a signed lease for Target to open in the Wesfield-owned center.

The lease for 99,677 sq. ft. was only just officially signed, San Francisco Business Times reported. The Metreon will soon begin construction on a multi-million dollar remodel that will make room for Target, and will recreate the ground level as a food collection of Bay Area restaurant concepts.

Gap Inc. wants international and online sales to account for 30% of its revenues within two years and a restructuring announced this week is expected to play a role in facilitating that growth.

The company said it would consolidate four existing international business units into one under the leadership of Stephen Sunnucks, a 30-year retail veteran who joined Gap five years ago.

Black Friday sales for 2010 were up only 0.3% over last year, yet online sales are up 16% against last year. Sixty percent to 70% of offline, store and catalog sales are now impacted in some way by digital commerce, either through comparative ratings and reviews, research, or targeted promotions and personalized campaigns. Almost all retailers are making significant investments, ranging in scale from about 1% to 3% of revenue, in cross-channel capabilities including online, mobile, and social media to build brand and drive new revenue streams.

NEW YORK - The Jones Group announced that it has further enhanced its talent with the additions of Rodney Hutton as chief merchandising officer of Anne Klein Brands and Daniela Bocresion as chief merchandising officer of Rachel Roy Brands, both effective immediately. Hutton and Bocresion will both report to Susan Metzger, CEO of women's wholesale sportswear for The Jones Group.
