Sizable new standalone sections of Disney brand consumer products have been created at 15 stores worldwide operated by the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES).

The merchandising initiative, dubbed “Disney at the Exchange” features a wide range of Disney, Marvel and Star Wars products and will be available in 15 AAFES installations by this summer. The assortment will include dolls, action figures, role play items and clothing, as well as toys and other merchandise tied to current Walt Disney Company theatrical releases and television content.

DALLAS — The Army and Air Force Exchange Service and Marvel Custom Solutions on Thursday announced the 13th collaborative issue of an “Avengers” comic book, available only through AAFES locations.

Marvel and AAFES have printed 1 million copies of the free comic book and currently are available at Exchange stores worldwide while supplies last.

Shoppers at Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) stores are being encouraged to think clean this summer as part of a promotion involving Unilever.

The global consumer products company is offering a “Salute to Clean Sweepstakes,” in which customers eligible to shop at AAFES stores can enter to win a $1,000 gift card.

“Exchange shoppers can really clean up this summer,” said AAFES chief of staff Col. Thomas Ockenfels.

The deadline for entry to win one of the 15 gift cards is July 19.

Three weeks after being named the first civilian director/CEO in the nearly 117-year history of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, Tom Shull officially took the reins today of the $10-billion military retailer. Shull replaced the Exchange’s last uniformed Commander, Brig. Gen. Fran Hendricks.

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is offering shoppers a chance to win a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

DALLAS — The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is offering shoppers a chance to win a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

From June 15 to 28, military shoppers can visit their local AAFES and enter to win in the 7UP Harley-Davidson Sweepstakes. One lcustomer will win a 2012 Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight, valued at $11,000. Entry is limited to shoppers ages 18 years and older who have a valid driver's license.

DALLAS — The Texas Diversity Council on Wednesday commended the Army and Air Force Exchange Service for its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

AAFES’s COO, Mike Howard, was one of two 2012 winners of the Champions Diversity Leadership Award at the council’s annual Diversity and Leadership Conference. Howard was recognized for being a visible champion of diversity and inclusion not only at AAFES, but the community as well.

On orders of the U.S. Department of Defense, The Army and Air Force Exchange Service, will for the first time in its 116-year history, name a civilian to the role of CEO/director.

DALLAS — On orders of the U.S. Department of Defense, The Army and Air Force Exchange Service, will for the first time in its 116-year history, name a civilian to the role of CEO/director.

Until such a person is named, COO Mike Howard will take over as acting CEO/director as the organization’s board of directors seeks a permanent replacement.
