Stater Bros. opens its most modern supermarket

Stater Bros. has broke ground on its newest and most modern supermarket in the Redlands Village Shopping Center, which is being developed by Lewis Retail Centers.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Stater Bros. has broke ground on its newest and most modern supermarket in the Redlands Village Shopping Center, which is being developed by Lewis Retail Centers.

The new Redlands Stater Bros. Supermarket will be located on the northwest corner of Lugonia and Wabash Avenues and will replace a smaller Stater Bros. Supermarket located at 1786 Lugonia Avenue.

Stater Bros. promotes long-time exec to head of retail ops

Stater Bros. has promoted Dan Meyer to the position of EVP retail operations.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Stater Bros. has promoted Dan Meyer to the position of EVP retail operations. In this position, Meyer will be responsible for the retail operations of all 167 Stater Bros. Supermarkets as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Training Center.

These GreenChill store certifications are valid for one year, and four of these Stater Bros. Supermarkets also received GreenChill Gold Awards in 2011.

Stater Bros. releases Q4, full-year results

Fourth quarter and fiscal year 2011 both proved positive for Stater Bros., the regional supermarket chain announced Tuesday.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Fourth quarter and fiscal year 2011 both proved positive for Stater Bros., the regional supermarket chain announced Tuesday.

For the fourth quarter ended Sept. 25, the retailer saw a 5% increase in sales to $941.9 million, compared with the year-ago period. For the 52-week fiscal year, sales rose 2.4% to $3.7 billion, the company said. Same-store sales for the fourth quarter and fiscal year experienced a 5% and 2.5% jump in same-store sales, respectively.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Stater Bros. chairman and CEO Jack Brown has joined the likes of Bob Hope, Will Rogers and Ronal Reagan as a recipient of the prestigious Patriot Award, the company announced. 

The Congressional Medal of Honor Society presented Brown with the award on Feb. 26 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., where 45 Medal of Honor recipients and other notable guests were gathered, the company reported.

Stater Bros. posts decline in quarterly supermarket sales

Stater Bros. reported that supermarket sales declined 2.31% in the first quarter of fiscal 2011 compared with the same period of the prior year.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.  -- Stater Bros. reported that supermarket sales declined 2.31% in the first quarter of fiscal 2011 compared with the same period of the prior year.  Like-store sales decreased 2.31% or $21.3 million for the thirteen weeks ended Dec. 26, 2010 compared with the thirteen weeks ended Dec. 27, 2009.  Consolidated sales in the first quarter of fiscal 2011 were $899 million compared with $923.9 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2010, an overall decline of $24.8 million.

Stater Bros. names VP real estate

Stater Bros. Markets last week announced the promotion of Mike Slaton to the position of VP real estate of Stater Bros. Markets. Slaton's present position of senior director real estate will be eliminated.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Stater Bros. Markets last week announced the promotion of Mike Slaton to the position of VP real estate of Stater Bros. Markets. Slaton's present position of senior director real estate will be eliminated.

Slaton has more than 27 years of real estate experience.  He first joined Stater Bros. in 1981 as a Courtesy Clerk at the company's North Redlands Supermarket. Later that year he was promoted to a Clerk at the same store, and in 1984 he was promoted to the position of real estate analyst at the corporate offices.

Economy hits Stater Bros.' fiscal-year results

Stater Bros. on Wednesday disclosed a more than 4% decrease in sales for fiscal year 2010.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Stater Bros. on Wednesday disclosed a more than 4% decrease in sales for fiscal year 2010.

The California supermarket chain said sales for the fiscal year ended Sept. 26 were $3.61 billion, down from $3.77 billion in fiscal year 2009. Sales for the fourth quarter also experience a decline, dropping to $897.4 million, or 3.15%, since the year-ago period.
