Lowe's has promoted Michael P. McDermott to chief merchandising officer, replacing Michael A. Jones, who will assume the role of chief customer officer, effective April 30.

Lowe's has promoted Michael P. McDermott to chief merchandising officer, replacing Michael A. Jones, who will assume the role of chief customer officer, effective April 30. The company also named Joseph M. (Mike) Mabry as strategy and experience design executive, replacing Robert J. Gfeller, who left the company last month.

Both Mabry and McDermott will report to Jones.

Lowe's has named Michael A. Jones as the company's chief customer officer, effective April 30. Jones currently serves as Lowe's chief merchandising officer, overseeing the full merchandise offering for all Lowe's U.S. stores and Lowes.com, as well as all global sourcing activities.

Jones will succeed Gregory M. Bridgeford, who plans to retire after 32 years with the company.

In his new role, Jones will be responsible for overseeing customer experience design, merchandising, marketing and communications and digital interfaces.

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s has appointed Starbucks executive Michelle Gass to the newly created position of chief customer officer. She will report directly to Kohl’s chairman, president and CEO Kevin Mansell.

Gass, who joins Kohl’s on June 17, will have leadership responsibility for Kohl’s branding across all channels. She will oversee all marketing efforts, the company’s high growth e-commerce business on Kohls.com and the customer’s total omnichannel experience.

In this new position, Carey will be responsible for guiding the company’s customer experience strategies and tactics, as well as leading the development and execution of its marketing strategies. Carey is expected to start with Pep Boys on Aug. 6.
