In his role as CEO of Interbrand North America, Feldmeth will be based in New York and oversee the company’s New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Dayton, Cincinnati and BrandWizard offices. Feldmeth previously served as CEO of Interbrand’s New York, San Francisco and Toronto offices. He will report to Interbrand’s global CEO Jez Frampton.

CVS Caremark late Monday said it reached an agreement with Navarro, the largest Hispanic owned drugstore chain in the U.S., to acquire 33 stores and Navarro Health Services, a specialty pharmacy serving patients with complex or chronic diseases. CVS Caremark operates more than 7,600 stores, but said it will continue operating the acquired units under the Navarro banner.

Richard Sharp, 67, the long-time CEO of Circuit City who founded used car retailer CarMax has died of Alzheimer’s disease at his home near Richmond, Va.

Richard Sharp, 67, the long-time CEO of Circuit City who founded used car retailer CarMax has died of Alzheimer’s disease at his home near Richmond, Virginia.

Sharp joined Circuit City in 1982 and served as CEO of the company from 1986 to 2000. Under his leadership, Circuit City enjoyed meteoric growth with sales that increased from $175 million in 1986 to more than $10 billion by 2000. Eight years after he had left the company, Circuit City filed for bankruptcy in 2008 and the following year was liquidated.

Specialty retailer Batteries Plus Bulbs is doubling down on its existing device repair business with plans to add the service to more than 600 stores by yearend.

Specialty retailer Batteries Plus Bulbs is doubling down on its existing device repair business with plans to have the service in more than 650 stores by yearend.

Since August of last year, device repair was being tested in 40 markets nationwide and had grown to 275 stores, however the popularity of the service among consumers combined with the surging popularity of smartphones, iPods, tablets and other devices prompted the decision to expand the service to all stores, according to the company.

Quill.com, acquired by Staples in 1998, is calling Quill Ideas an online-innovation community that is designed to solicit and implement ideas, review and rank them based on various protocols and then implement those that score the highest. A soft launch that began two weeks ago has already garnered more than 13,000 interactions made up of ideas, votes and comments, according to the company.

Shoppost is a free app that gathers product information and pulls it into an interactive post that can be shared via social channels in a few clicks. Net sales in the quarter decreased 1.9% to $589.9 million from $601.1 million in the first quarter of 2013, driven primarily by a 6.2% decrease in same-store sales. Lower initial franchise revenues and lower liquidation revenues on end-of-season mark-out apparel merchandise received from Sears Holdings also negatively impacted net sales.

Consolidated same-store sales increased by 2.8%, with increases of 2.5% at DSG, 2.6% at Saks Fifth Avenue and 15.1% at Off 5th. Digital commerce sales totaled $207 million, reflecting both the inclusion of Hudson's Bay and Lord & Taylor (which together are referred to as “Department Store Group” or DSG) and Saks.
