H-E-B has launched a new ad campaign designed to give some humanity to its price driven message.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — H-E-B has launched a new ad campaign designed to give some humanity to its price driven message. Branding agency The Richards Group said Wednesday that, on behalf of client H-E-B Grocery Co., it has selected production company King and Country to create six new spots featuring a mixture of kids, family pets, animated typography, and the red and white colors from H-E-B's logo.

The first of the 15-second spots debuted Wednesday in targeted TV and cable outlets and on H-E-B's social media channels, including YouTube.com/HEB.

Walmart is looking to appeal to this shopper segment with some interesting solutions that leverage its multichannel capabilities and give new meaning to the phrase “last minute shopping.”

The company’s Pick Up Today service was being aggressively promoted with email marketing and social media efforts to remind gift-givers products ordered online by noon on Christmas Eve would be available for pick up in store by 6 p.m.

On average, across the retailer set, number of inserts decreased slightly while the number of pages increased on a year-over-year basis for the month of April. When reviewing front page category share of voice, candy experienced a strong increase in April 2011 compared with the same month in the prior year. This is no surprise as Easter fell later in the month in 2011, giving retailers the opportunity to advertise this category for more weeks throughout the month than in 2010. Other categories with notable increases in 2011 versus 2010 include household cleaning, digital TVs and toys.
