FORT WORTH, Texas — RadioShack posted first quarter 2013 quarter sales of $849 million and a loss of $43 million, compared with $913 million last year and a loss of $8 million.

As a result of the company’s disappointing first quarter, it has ended its mobile phone partnership with Target. RadioShack said it had stopped operating its Target Mobile centers before the end of last month. The company had operated mobile phone kiosks inside Target stores.

Beginning in July, more than 6,400 Dollar General stores will offer numerous T-Mobile prepaid plan options and the Samsung t139 phone, which features messaging, web browsing, a camera and Bluetooth connectivity.

RadioShack reported a fourth-quarter sales increase, thanks to the rollout of Target Mobile centers, but profits were down.

FORT WORTH, Texas — RadioShack reported a fourth-quarter sales increase, thanks to the rollout of Target Mobile centers, but profits were down.

Total net sales and operating revenues from continuing operations for the 2011 fourth quarter increased 5.9% to $1.39 billion, compared with $1.31 billion for the 2010 fourth quarter. Net income for the 2011 fourth quarter was $11.9 million, or 12 cents per diluted share, compared with net income of $57 million, or 51 cents per diluted share, for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 2010.

CHICAGO — The third annual Mobile Audit, released Thursday by e-commerce and digital marketing company Acquity Group, found that mobile adoption is on the rise. In fact, the percentage of retailers with a mobile site reached 37% in 2011, up from 12% in 2010 and only 4% in 2009 — a 210% increase over the past year alone.

Bellevue, Wash. -- T-Mobile USA announced Thursday the rollout of a new global design for nearly 400 new and remodeled stores across the country. The move follows successful test pilots in Tukwila, Wash., and in New York City at Seventh Ave. and 48th St.,

T-Mobile said it adopted the new design format from its parent company, Deutsche Telekom AG, which has received positive customer feedback for this new design in retail stores across Europe.

The company brought on former investment banker Day — best known for pulling Kmart out of bankruptcy — as chairman and CEO in 2006 to help turn around results.
