RadioShack is courting the college market and has entered into a five-year agreement with NACSCORP, a subsidiary of the National Association of College Stores.

As a result of the company’s disappointing first quarter, it has ended its mobile phone partnership with Target. RadioShack said it had stopped operating its Target Mobile centers before the end of last month. The company had operated mobile phone kiosks inside Target stores.

RadioShack has stocked its shelves at locations nationwide with HTC's most recent flagship smartphone, the HTC One.

FORT WORTH, Texas — RadioShack has stocked its shelves at locations nationwide with HTC's most recent flagship smartphone, the HTC One.

To celebrate the launch, RadioShack will give a $50 Google Play credit to anyone who buys the smartphone at one of their participating locations by June 1. Consumers can also take advantage of the company's Trade & Save Program, which allows them to trade-in their old phones for as much as $300 toward the new phone and accessories, depending on the phone model.

Following the debut of the redesigned Sony Store in the Simon Mall Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, Calif., Sony announced it will open three new concept stores located in Miami, San Diego, and Orlando, Fla. The remodels will bring the total of U.S. redesigned stores to eight.

Comps were down 7% at RadioShack for the fourth quarter, driven by a decline in the mobility and consumer electronics platforms.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Comps were down 7% at RadioShack for the fourth quarter, driven by a decline in the mobility and consumer electronics platforms. Total sales and and operating revenue were $1.3 billion, compared with $1.4 billion last year.  

The company reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $63 million, or 63 cents per diluted share, compared with net income of $12 million last year.

WASHINGTON — The Lenovo ThinkPad T430s topped TopTen USA's list for energy-efficiency.

The nonprofit group, appaluded he fact that the laptop uses only 7.4 kilowatt hours of electricity in a year of typical use. The average comparable model uses 28 kWh per year—almost 4 times the energy.  On average, TopTen-listed laptops use about half (48%) the energy of comparable models.

RadioShack has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

FORT WORTH, Texas — RadioShack has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The donation will help cover costs of shelter, food, recovery and other assistance to families affected by the storm.

"Hurricane Sandy has been a storm of historic magnitude," said Dorvin Lively, CEO of RadioShack Corp. "RadioShack wants to support Red Cross in its efforts to help the communities and families we serve get back to normal as quickly as possible."

FORT WORTH, Texas — RadioShack reported that total sales for its third quarter were $1 billion, compared with $1.03 billion last year. Comparable-store sales were down 1.6%.

The retailer reported a net loss of $47 million, or 47 cents per diluted share, compared with net income of $0.3 million last year.
