Home Depot has opened its 100th location in Mexico, according to an article in El Financiero. The Atlanta-based retailer now operates 95 stores in 60 cities in Mexico, where it generates annual revenues of $1 billion, the newspaper said.

In the final quarter of 2012, Home Depot will open stores in the towns of Coahuila, Sonora, Veracruz, Michoacán and Nuevo León.

Wal-Mart de Mexico SA reported that profit for the fourth quarter increased 14%, citing newly acquired stores in Central America for the improved performance.

Mexico City -- Wal-Mart de Mexico SA reported that profit for the fourth quarter increased 14%, citing newly acquired stores in Central America for the improved performance.

The Mexican unit of Wal-Mart Stores said that net income rose to $539 million in the fourth quarter, up from $474 million in the year-ago period.

Revenue rose 25% to $8.3 billion. 

Walmex recently acquired stores in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
