NACDS, foundation announce new board members

During the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Annual Meeting today, the association elected the new officers, two new executive committee members and four new board of directors members for the coming year. The NACDS Foundation also announced the addition of five new members.

PALM BEACH, Fla. — During the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Annual Meeting today, the association elected the new officers, two new executive committee members and four new board of directors members for the coming year. The NACDS Foundation also announced the addition of five new members. 

Robert Narveson, president and CEO of Thrifty White Pharmacy, was elected as the new NACDS chairman of the board of directors, succeeding Gregory Wasson, president and CEO of Walgreens.

Chain drug association CFO retires

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ EVP and CFO Jim Huber is retiring after 25 years of service.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ EVP and CFO Jim Huber is retiring after 25 years of service.

He will be succeeded by David Fitzsimmons, who has been promoted to SVP of finance and administration, effective December 21. Fitzsimmons currently serves as VP of finance and accounting.

Three new members join NACDS Foundation's board

The charitable arm of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores has elected three new members to its board of directors.

PALM BEACH, Fla. — The charitable arm of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores has elected three new members to its board of directors.

The board, which now will expand to 23 members for 2012-2013, include Rite Aid's SVP and chief communications officer Susan Henderson; GlaxoSmithKline VP channel development and sales Joseph Kucharski; and Pfizer Worldwide Pharmaceuticals VP corporate government customers David Moules.

On the final evening of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, the association for the first time honored two individuals in the same year with the Sheldon W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award: Mary Sammons, chairman of Rite Aid, and Tom Ryan, chairman of CVS Caremark.

New leadership emerges at NACDS

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores announced a successor for Larry Merlo as its new board of directors chairman, along with several other elected officers, at its 2011 Annual Meeting. Robert Loeffler, who serves as H-E-B's chief administrative officer, will replace Merlo, who is CVS Caremark president and CEO, as NACDS board chairman. Additionally, Walgreens president and CEO Greg Wasson was elected vice chairman, while Thrifty White president and CEO Robert Narveson was named treasurer.

Target exec joins chain drug board

Jose Barra, SVP health care and beauty at Target, is among four new members elected to join the 21-member board of directors of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS).

Jose Barra, SVP health care and beauty at Target, is among four new members elected to join the 21-member board of directors of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS). Barra’s appointment was announced at the NACDS Annual Meeting held this week in Scottsdale, Ariz. Other new members include, Jerry Cline, SVP retail sales and marketing at Good Neighbor Pharmacy; Lynne Fruth, chairman of the board of Fruth Pharmacy and Steve Kaczynski, CEO of Navarro Discount Pharmacies.

NACDS boosts government affairs team with new hire

he National Association of Chain Drug Stores has hired Julie Philp as director of federal affairs to bring additional pharmacy and legislative expertise to the government affairs team. She joins NACDS on April 11.

"Julie is a seasoned advocate with experience in pharmacy and on Capitol Hill, and she will bring a wealth of expertise to NACDS," stated NACDS president and CEO Steve Anderson. "NACDS members will enjoy working with Julie, and we are pleased to welcome her to NACDS' highly effective team."
