The company reported an increase of 1% in June sales compared with last year. Net sales for the five-week period ended July 5 were $1.54 billion compared with net sales of $1.53 billion for the five-week period ended July 6 last year.

American Apparel’s board of directors has voted to remove Dov Charney as chairman and fire him as president and CEO.

American Apparel’s board of directors has voted to remove Dov Charney as chairman and fire him as president and CEO.

It is expected that the termination will be effective following a 30-day cure period required under the terms of Charney’s employment agreement.

For the time being, Charney is suspended from his positions as president and CEO, effective immediately, pending the expiration of the cure period. The board has appointed John Luttrell as interim CEO.

The company reported that April net sales increased 10% to $1.33 billion for the four-week period ended May 3, versus $1.21 billion last year. Gap’s comparable sales for April 2014 were up 9% versus a 7% increase last year.

For the first quarter so far, Gap’s net sales have increased 1% to $3.77 billion versus $3.73 billion last year. The company’s comparable sales so far have decreased 1% versus a 2% increase last year.

As part of its international growth strategy, Gap plans to open five franchise-operated Old Navy stores in the Philippines in 2014.

The first two Old Navy stores will open in Manila this month, and there are plans to open three more stores in the second half of the year for a total of five Old Navy stores this year.

Gap Inc. continues to enjoy momentum at its namesake Gap stores and Old Navy units which pushed total company results up 8% to nearly $3.9 billion.

Gap Inc. continues to enjoy momentum at its namesake Gap stores and Old Navy units which pushed total company results up 8% to nearly $3.9 billion.

Results were strongest at Gap and Old Navy stores where comps increase 6% while Banana Republic comps declined 1%.

“We are pleased with our second quarter performance overall, and we’re focused on continuing our momentum as we move into the second half of the year,” said Glenn Murphy, chairman and CEO of Gap Inc.

On Sept. 14, women are invited to "strut their stuff" and model Old Navy's rockstar skinny jeans on the jean-shaped runway at Bryant Park.

The Spanish-language web novela, "Estilos Robados" (Stolen Styles), is a six part miniseries that launched last Friday, Oct. 14 and will air on Fridays through Nov. 18 on the "Estilos Robados" tab within Old Navy's Facebook page and on Old Navy's Spanish YouTube channel, as well as on Telemundo Movil.
