The Bon-Ton acquired the leasehold interests in the Muskegon Furniture Gallery store when they acquired Elder-Beerman in 2003. Bon-Ton does not expect the furniture gallery’s close to affect operations at the Younkers department store located in The Lakes Mall.

The Bon-Ton Stores reported that its net income for the fourth quarter was a better-than-expected $74.4 million, compared with $78.2 million in the year-ago period.

YORK, Pa. — The Bon-Ton Stores reported that its net income for the fourth quarter was a better-than-expected $74.4 million, compared with $78.2 million in the year-ago period.

Revenue for the three months ended Feb. 2 increased 3.2% to $1.02 billion, missing the Street’s view of $1.04 billion. Same-store sales increased 1%. (Results for the fourth quarter and fiscal 2012 are impacted by the inclusion of an additional week in each period, resulting in a 14-week and 53-week reporting period.)

The board has also accepted Tim Grumbacher’s resignation as executive chairman of the board. Grumbacher remains a director of the company and was named strategic initiatives officer. Additionally, Brendan Hoffman, recently appointed as president and CEO of the company effective Feb. 7, was elected a director of the company. The actions of the board were taken on Jan.

Hoffman replaces Bud Bergren, who is a current member of the board of directors and who will transition to the role of the chairman.

Hoffman was the president and CEO of Lord & Taylor since October 2008. Prior to that, he served six years as president and CEO of Neiman Marcus Direct, a subsidiary of The Neiman Marcus Group, where he oversaw the growth of neimanmarcus.com and the launch and growth of bergdorfgoodman.com.

MILWAUKEE — Bon-Ton Stores Inc. said Monday that its CEO Bud Bergren will retire his position once the company finds and hires his successor.

When a new CEO is in place, Bergren will transition to chairman; current executive chairman Tim Grumbacher will vacate the chair but remain a director. Bergren has been CEO since 2004.

The succession plans comes on the heels of same-store sales dips in October and a downwardly modified outlook for the year.

The Bon-Ton Stores reported Thursday that it narrowed its loss in the second quarter to $32.3 million from $33.7 million a year earlier.

YORK, Pa. — The Bon-Ton Stores reported Thursday that it narrowed its loss in the second quarter to $32.3 million from $33.7 million a year earlier.

Sales declined 2.2% to $595.5 million, but aggressive cost-cutting prompted the improved profit performance. Results, however, missed Wall Street expectations.

Same-store sales fell 1.5% for the quarter.

Bon-Ton Stores Inc. said Wednesday its fiscal fourth-quarter profit climbed 6%.

YORK, Penn. -- Bon-Ton Stores Inc. said Wednesday its fiscal fourth-quarter profit climbed 6%.

The department store chain said its net income rose to $85 million for the period ended Jan. 29, up from $80.3 million a year earlier.

Revenue edged up 1% to $1.03 billion from $1.02 billion.

Revenue at stores open at least a year rose 0.8%.

Bon-Ton Stores' annual net income was $21.5 million. In the prior year, it lost $4.1 million.
