Since 2009, products traded in as part of the company’s Great Trade-In event were missing parts, damaged, were decades old, or showed obvious signs of wear and tear. Through the Great Trade-In, Toys “R” Us aims to raise awareness among parents and caregivers about ways to be proactive where children’s safety is concerned.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) levied the $43.5 million fine against the 10 investment banks – but not Toys “R” Us – for allowing their equity research analysts to solicit investment banking business and offer favorable research coverage in connection with the retailer’s planned IPO in 2010.
