The leading closeout retailer that operates 811 stores across the U.S. reported net sales of $182.8 million, an increase of 2.6% compared to $178.1 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2013.

Tuesday Morning Corporation has added Frank M. Hamlin, EVP of marketing at Guitar Center, and Sherry M. Smith, who most recently served as EVP and CFO of Supervalu, to its board.

Tuesday Morning Corp. said total sales for the third quarter ended March 31 increased 3.1% to $178.1 million, from $172.7 million in the year-ago period.

DALLAS — Tuesday Morning Corp. said total sales for the third quarter ended March 31 increased 3.1% to $178.1 million, from $172.7 million in the year-ago period.

Same-store sales rose 2.8%, boosted by increases in average transaction value and customer traffic. 

For the nine-month period ended March 31, revenue at stores open at least a year increased 3.7% and total sales rose 3.2% to $636.2 million, from $616.4 million.

The company plans to release its full third-quarter results on April 25.

Dallas - Tuesday Morning Corp. reported late Monday that it reduced its loss in the quarter ended Sept. 30 to $2.6 million, compared with a loss of $4.7 million in the year-ago period.

The retailer cited increased store traffic and sales for the improved performance.

Revenue for the quarter rose 4.2% to $$172.8 million, compared with $165.9 million a year earlier. Same-store sales increased 4.3 %, comprised of a 6.1% increased in traffic offset by a 1.8% decline in average ticket.
